Blinded By Beauty

Posted by T Lynn Christner on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, In : Creation Process

Now where was i - um, oh yeah i just squeezed a soft bit of clay into the little hole, then i have a stamp that i made and i press that it onto my piece of really soft clay until i get a nice impression.

Well - this one is almost all put together. I suppose i would say this was at the 1/2 way mark. It still must be bisque fired, sanded, then glazed and the final firing.

Also this little pin-hole camera got a name it's called Blinded By Beauty.

Nameless Pinhole Camera

Posted by Twylah Ekko on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, In : Creation Process

As for now this pin-hole camera i'm working on is name less. So this is me & i'm working on finishing up another pinhole camera, it took me a long time to finally decide on how to make the hole for the shutter (besides for the piece of metal i have to cut later) Anyway i was trying to think of different ways to cover up the shutter.

So this was my latest idea - to make a small hole and put sorta like a plug into it. I start off by making the hole, then taking really soft clay and rolling it b...

Walking After Midnight Breakfast

Posted by T Lynn Christner on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, In : Plates and Bowls
i decided to make my breakfast a bit more interesting by cutting a little heart out me toast and cooking my egg in that. The plate featured here is named Walking After Midnight fired at cone 10 with red shino and lugna glaze. I totally dig the color that is made when these two overlap which is a dark glittery smokey black with a tiny tint of purple.

Spinning Slip

Posted by Twylah Ekko on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, In : Creation Process
Hi there, its me again this time i'm slip-trailing. This piece which is not named quite yet was a wheel-thrown form. The clay used here is JBS which is a nice brown clay, the slip clay that i'm squeezing on with that little rubber thing (i think its used to clean out babies noses when they are first born) is porcelain. I am spinning it to make it run down the pot, which is upside-down. It should be interesting to see after it's fired b/c the runs will then be going up instead of down once the...

I See You Four

Posted by Twylah Ekko on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, In : Creation Process

Ok Finally you get a peak at the top of the pin-hole camera and a wee bit of the side of the bottom.

This is a picture right after i have taken it out of that little rusty bin with a pair of tongs. Its still very hot - oh and before i forget to tell you - i dropped it! AAAAAAH yes i did, i felt it slipping out of my tong grip so i got super super close to the ground so when it finally slipped out of my grip and went TINK onto the hard pavement i was sooooo hoping it didn't put a crack into i...

I See You Three

Posted by Twylah Ekko on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, In : Creation Process

Eeeeeeh (thats my excited noise) well the little pin-hole camera is in the rusty trash bin and i have to wait now. This would be a good time to have Supermans x-ray vision so you could see the little pot in there. I have to come back in about an hour and take the lid off to see if the magic worked :-D

At this point the anticipation is killing me. But i go inside and slip glaze another piece while i wait. So i don't have to think bout it.

I See You Two

Posted by Twylah Ekko on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, In : Creation Process

Ok - don't go getting disappointed yet, because its not the finished pin-hole camera. I feel i should take you thru the process, heck if i wanted to be super technical i would have started from the very beginning. However, i was not inspired to start taking and posting photos unitl my dear friend cabbagehead started posting.

Ok but back to the process. This barrel contains strips of newspaper that have been shredded by hand, which will be used later as cumbustables. Its waiting on a good mix ...
