My First Apartment 1

Posted by Twylah Ekko on Monday, April 6, 2009, In : Creation Process

This will be sorta a before and after shot of this particular item, which would most likely be used as a little jewlery box. I call them spring boxes b/c i make the texture on top with a spring - of which in this view you don't see. What you are seeing is the inside top of the box and i'm sanding around a spider that i placed inside. Thats why my thumb is all fuzzzzzzy b/c i'm moving.

This piece which is named My First Apartment is called this b/c in my first apartment, i had so many spiders....

Blinded By Beauty

Posted by T Lynn Christner on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, In : Creation Process

Now where was i - um, oh yeah i just squeezed a soft bit of clay into the little hole, then i have a stamp that i made and i press that it onto my piece of really soft clay until i get a nice impression.

Well - this one is almost all put together. I suppose i would say this was at the 1/2 way mark. It still must be bisque fired, sanded, then glazed and the final firing.

Also this little pin-hole camera got a name it's called Blinded By Beauty.

Nameless Pinhole Camera

Posted by Twylah Ekko on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, In : Creation Process

As for now this pin-hole camera i'm working on is name less. So this is me & i'm working on finishing up another pinhole camera, it took me a long time to finally decide on how to make the hole for the shutter (besides for the piece of metal i have to cut later) Anyway i was trying to think of different ways to cover up the shutter.

So this was my latest idea - to make a small hole and put sorta like a plug into it. I start off by making the hole, then taking really soft clay and rolling it b...

Spinning Slip

Posted by Twylah Ekko on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, In : Creation Process
Hi there, its me again this time i'm slip-trailing. This piece which is not named quite yet was a wheel-thrown form. The clay used here is JBS which is a nice brown clay, the slip clay that i'm squeezing on with that little rubber thing (i think its used to clean out babies noses when they are first born) is porcelain. I am spinning it to make it run down the pot, which is upside-down. It should be interesting to see after it's fired b/c the runs will then be going up instead of down once the...

I See You Four

Posted by Twylah Ekko on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, In : Creation Process

Ok Finally you get a peak at the top of the pin-hole camera and a wee bit of the side of the bottom.

This is a picture right after i have taken it out of that little rusty bin with a pair of tongs. Its still very hot - oh and before i forget to tell you - i dropped it! AAAAAAH yes i did, i felt it slipping out of my tong grip so i got super super close to the ground so when it finally slipped out of my grip and went TINK onto the hard pavement i was sooooo hoping it didn't put a crack into i...

I See You Three

Posted by Twylah Ekko on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, In : Creation Process

Eeeeeeh (thats my excited noise) well the little pin-hole camera is in the rusty trash bin and i have to wait now. This would be a good time to have Supermans x-ray vision so you could see the little pot in there. I have to come back in about an hour and take the lid off to see if the magic worked :-D

At this point the anticipation is killing me. But i go inside and slip glaze another piece while i wait. So i don't have to think bout it.

I See You Two

Posted by Twylah Ekko on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, In : Creation Process

Ok - don't go getting disappointed yet, because its not the finished pin-hole camera. I feel i should take you thru the process, heck if i wanted to be super technical i would have started from the very beginning. However, i was not inspired to start taking and posting photos unitl my dear friend cabbagehead started posting.

Ok but back to the process. This barrel contains strips of newspaper that have been shredded by hand, which will be used later as cumbustables. Its waiting on a good mix ...

I See You First

Posted by Twylah Ekko on Friday, February 6, 2009, In : Creation Process
Humm - i guess i should update this a little bit & let you know what you are seeing is the top of a kiln. Its a hole about 5 or 6 inches in diameter and it has heat coming out of it. It gets so hot it starts to have a flame come as the kiln heats up after about 2 hours. So i'm standing on the side of the kiln with the camera above my head just clicking away to see if i get a good shot. B/c i don't have anything to stand on. What you see IN THE HOLE that is all red looking is one of my pinhole...

Working a Tisket

Posted by Twylah Ekko on Wednesday, January 28, 2009, In : Creation Process

Hi everyone - sorry i can't wave my hands are full. It's me and i'm working on putting on a textured handle onto my little mug named A Tisket (it has a match named A Tasket). I was thinking about my mom and how she would always sing that song at random moments in my life.

I recently made a pink glaze -shhh don't tell me mom yet tho. Its a surprise since her favorite color is pink, unlike me which my favorite color is actually green. Anyway i'm thinking ahead (which one should always do when p...

Little Wings gets a black bag

Posted by T Lynn Christner on Wednesday, January 28, 2009, In : Creation Process

Yesterday i was sanding a piece of metal (soda pop can) to use as the pinhole for the NEW camera i'm making. Well, thats about as far as i got - because as my other name *Side Track Sally* took over. Who knows how i ended up with material spread out all bout the floor & was cutting into a skirt then, looking at bills, GETTING the crap scared out of me from my bank sending a letter to me that my card had been compromised? WHAT? Thats not cool.... Id be getting a new card w/a new pin - make sur...

Little Wings and Me

Posted by T Lynn Christner on Wednesday, January 28, 2009, In : Creation Process

Hi, its me in this capture i'm finishing up the pin-hole camera ;D i am placing black foam inside the lid to make a nice and snug fit. The pin-hole camera is glazed in my pinky's pink with a bit of plum squiggles just sitting there to the left her name is Little Wings.

Finally i had all the supplies i needed to get that show on the road. I even made up a small tube pinhole viewing thingy (not sure what to call it) But the reason i made that was so i could test out the size pinhole i would ne...

Quick Lesson

Posted by rabbit on Wednesday, December 24, 2008, In : Creation Process

This little box was made because I had some leftover clay all rolled out and my friend Sara was nearby. I asked her if she wanted to see how i made the boxes with the little pointed feet. She excitedly said yes!

The lid i cut a leaf shape and bent up the ends - i thought it would be most interesting. Not very practical for taking around in a bag - but who would want to hide this cute little camera? Oh an yes, this was made into a pinhole camera.

Its super sunny out today!
Would be good for ...
